Up Flo® Filter

Keep your Up Flo® filter running smoothly with expert maintenance.

The Up-Flo® Filter is an advanced stormwater filtration device commonly used in New Zealand to remove sediment, nutrients, metals, and hydrocarbons from runoff before it enters the drainage network. A typical Up-Flo® Filter is installed as a 1200mm diameter manhole structure, but larger vault systems are available for sites with greater runoff volumes. You’ll often find Up-Flo® Filters at commercial developments, industrial sites, car parks, and new residential subdivisions.

How Up-Flo® Filters Work

Each Up-Flo® Filter module is attached to a concrete wall and features an angled screen and support bracket. Inside each module is a media pack that includes mathala flow distribution layers and filter media packs specific to the resource consent.

The system is designed so that larger pollutants settle in the main sump (the hollow where liquids collect) before water flows upward through the screens, then through the filter media, and finally out through the outlet. This process ensures effective removal of a wide range of stormwater contaminants.

Why Maintenance Matters

Regular maintenance is essential to keep Up-Flo® Filters operating efficiently. Over time, sediment and debris can accumulate in the sump and filter modules, reducing treatment performance and potentially causing bypass or flooding. For underground Up-Flo® Filter units, maintenance will require confined space entry, which is performed by our specially trained technicians following strict safety protocols. Proper maintenance helps maintain water quality, system reliability, and compliance with council requirements.
