Spillceptor®

Protecting Waterways with Spillceptor® Oil and Sediment Capture

The Spillceptor®—previously known as the SPEL Puraceptor—is an advanced stormwater treatment device designed to separate and capture oil, fuel, grease, and sediment from runoff before it enters the drainage system or local waterways. These systems are commonly installed at service stations, fuel depots, industrial sites, and anywhere there is a risk of hydrocarbon spills or contaminated stormwater.

How Spillceptor®s Work

Spillceptor®s use a multi-chambered design and gravity separation to trap and retain hydrocarbons and solids. As stormwater or washdown water enters the unit, heavier particles settle to the bottom while oils and fuels rise to the top, preventing pollutants from reaching the environment. Some models include coalescing filters or additional treatment stages for enhanced removal of fine oil droplets.

Why Maintenance Matters

Regular maintenance is essential to ensure these systems continue to operate effectively. Over time, oil, fuel, and sediment accumulate within the chambers, reducing treatment efficiency and increasing the risk of blockages, flooding, or environmental non-compliance.

Professional Spillceptor® Maintenance Services

At Dutton Stormwater, we provide comprehensive maintenance services for Spillceptor®s across New Zealand. Our team inspects, removes accumulated oil and solids, services filters, and ensures your separator is operating efficiently and in line with environmental standards. For underground Spillceptor® units, maintenance may require confined space entry, which is performed by our specially trained technicians following strict safety protocols.

Recommended Service Frequency

Spillceptor®s typically require maintenance every six to twelve months, depending on site activity and pollutant loading. During each service, we assess the system’s condition and includes a job summary with any recommendations in your service report.

Extend the lifespan of your Spillceptor®.
